TOKYO, Apr 05 (News On Japan) - The theatrical version of the period drama series "Onihei Hankacho: Blood Battle," starring the tenth-generation Matsumoto Koshiro, brings a fresh adaptation of the classic series by historical novelist Shotaro Ikenami.
The film weaves the past and present of Hasegawa Heizo, known and feared as "Onihei" by villains, to tell the origin story of Onihei. Directed by Tomohiko Yamashita, known for the "Miyake Kiyosuke Zanjitsuroku" series, and scripted by Sumio Omori, famed for the "Shikake-nin Fujieda Baian" series, the film features Koshiro's eldest son, Ichikawa Somegoro, as a young Heizo. The cast for the theatrical release includes Matsumoto Hoka, Kitamura Yukiya, and Eimoto Akira, among others, bringing to life this epic samurai tale.
