Saitama, Aug 05 (News On Japan) - In the early hours of Monday, a fire broke out in a warehouse at a residential property in Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture, the fifth suspicious fire in the area over the weekend, leading police to investigate the possibility of a serial arsonist.
According to police reports, the blaze was discovered by a patrolling officer at around 1:30 a.m. in a warehouse located in Shobu Town, Kobayashi, Kuki City. The fire completely destroyed the warehouse and four vehicles, including a tractor, parked inside. It took approximately three and a half hours to extinguish the flames.
Fortunately, the 76-year-old male resident was unharmed as the warehouse was situated away from the main house.
This fire follows a series of five other blazes on the 4th within a 3-kilometer radius, affecting both Kuki City and Okegawa City.
Additionally, on the 1st, a two-story wooden house and a car were completely burned down in Shobu Town, Shitakayamachi, Kuki City. The police are strengthening patrols in the area and are actively investigating the possibility of a serial arsonist being responsible for these incidents.
