TOKYO, Aug 06 (News On Japan) - A university student has been arrested for firing an airgun at passengers at Hirai Station on Tokyo's Sobu Line.
The student, who reportedly fired around 80 shots at passengers, said he wanted to see their reactions. His home is approximately 40 meters away from the station platform in a straight line. It is believed that he shot from his balcony or another concealed location.
A woman in her 30s was hit four times in the back on June 27. The following day, a man in his 60s was struck once in the left shoulder. Around 80 BB pellets were recovered from the platform over two days.
The student admitted to the actions, saying, “It was definitely me who did it.” Additional reports of BB gun attacks have been received, and authorities are investigating any connections.
