Gifu Woman Arrested for Throwing Raw Eggs at Neighbor's House

GIFU, Aug 09 (News On Japan) - A 53-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly throwing raw eggs at her neighbor's house in Kawabe Town, Gifu Prefecture.

The affected resident shared their experience: "The white wall was stained black. I felt a sense of unfairness, wondering why this was happening to me," said the woman.

The walls were streaked with egg liquid, and shattered eggshells littered the ground. When a storage box was moved, a large number of eggshells were found underneath.

"The neighbor throws eggs. The smell was so strong that it made me feel sick, forcing me to stay inside," the victim recounted.

Reporter "The smell of raw eggs is apparent even from here, where they were thrown."

The woman responsible for throwing the eggs was caught on video.

"Remember this, you old hag!" she shouted while being taken into a police vehicle. The suspect, Ryoko Kakami, 53, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Gifu Prefectural Ordinance for Prevention of Nuisances.

According to the police, Kakami allegedly threw several raw eggs at the neighbor's house on two occasions, on the 19th and 25th of last month.

Security camera footage captured the incidents clearly. On the 25th of last month, the camera recorded Kakami's window opening slightly before two white eggs were thrown. Forty minutes later, the window opened again, and two more eggs were thrown. This wasn't a one-time incident.

The victim explained: "This happens every day. On a low day, it's five or six eggs, but it can be as many as twenty."

On one occasion, three eggs were thrown just ten minutes after two others were launched. When an egg didn't reach the neighbor's property, Kakami retrieved the shell and threw it over the fence.

The victim also mentioned an incident with a boiled egg, which broke a box containing agricultural equipment.

Furthermore, the harassment didn't start recently. The victim stated: "Around early December 2019, eggs were thrown onto the balcony and into the garden."

The harassment has been ongoing almost daily for five years. The victim installed security cameras for safety. Although Kakami was arrested for the same offense three years ago, she continued her actions.

The victim added: "When I returned home and opened the car door, she would yell, 'You old hag!'"

The victim does not understand the motive behind these actions, as there had been no interactions with Kakami for about ten years. The harassment began when Kakami moved in approximately twenty years ago, starting with garbage dumping and escalating over time.

The victim concluded: "I cleaned up, replaced the gravel, and kept it tidy, but it would return to this state within a month. Her arrest brings relief. I can finally feel safe at home and sleep peacefully at night."

Kakami has denied the allegations, stating, "I didn't do it," according to police investigations.
