Sep 10 (NHK) - The producers of a period drama set in Japan have made history themselves. The makers of "Shogun" have won 14 Emmy Awards. US media say that breaks the record for the most wins for a single season of a TV series.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held over the weekend in Los Angeles. The producers saw their show win best cinematography, editing, and casting among other prizes.
Their narrative depicts a power struggle in feudal Japan. Sanada Hiroyuki plays the lead role and helped to produce the series.
He and his colleagues could add to their total this coming Sunday at the main Emmy Awards show. "Shogun" is also nominated for best drama series, best lead actor, and best lead actress.
