Seventh Suspect in Teacher Voyeurism Ring Reverses Confession

Okayama, Nov 08 (News On Japan) - A 27-year-old elementary school teacher in Bizen, Okayama Prefecture, who became the seventh suspect arrested in a voyeurism scandal involving a group of educators, has retracted his earlier confession and now denies filming any illicit footage.

A teacher at a municipal elementary school, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a video showing a female student changing clothes. He was referred to prosecutors on November 7th.

During a prior home search before his arrest, the man reportedly admitted to police that he had engaged in voyeuristic filming and later discarded all the material out of fear. However, investigators revealed that just before his arrest, he changed his statement, claiming, "I have never done any filming."

He reportedly told police that after seeing news of other teachers in the same SNS group being arrested, he deleted the voyeuristic videos in his possession but kept some, saying, "They were like treasures to me, and I was reluctant to dispose of them."
