Couple Arrested for Secretly Filming Women at Bathhouses

Ishikawa - A married couple from Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, has been arrested on suspicion of secretly filming women changing clothes and bathing at public bathing facilities, with police saying the pair carried out around 100 illicit recordings and earned approximately 5 million yen by selling the footage online.

Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested Daichi Nakatake, a 35-year-old company employee, and his wife Misato Nakatake, 24, on suspicion of violating Japan's law against the nonconsensual recording of sexually intimate images and other offenses.

The couple allegedly used small cameras concealed inside bags and other belongings to record women changing clothes and bathing at facilities in Ishikawa Prefecture between May and July 2026. They are also suspected of providing the videos to three men.

According to police, Misato entered the bathing facilities and secretly filmed women under instructions from her husband, who subsequently sold the footage over the internet.

Investigators believe the couple concealed miniature cameras inside bags and baskets, positioning the lenses to capture images through small gaps without attracting attention.

During questioning, both suspects admitted to the allegations and told investigators they had secretly recorded women on approximately 100 occasions, generating sales of around 5 million yen.

Police are investigating whether the couple committed numerous additional offenses beyond those covered by the current allegations, including the extent of their online sales and the number of women whose privacy was violated.
