Jul 11 (NHK) - Japan's law enforcement authorities say the police officers guarding former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo failed to follow protocol to protect a VIP from a gun attack.
Police say the second round was shot nearly three seconds after the first.
The authorities told NHK that the security personnel guarding Abe failed to follow procedures designed to protect people in such a situation.
The authorities said the officers should have pushed Abe to the ground after the first round was fired, surrounded him and then taken him to a vehicle or other safe location. ...continue reading
