Imperial Family Briefed on Noto Peninsula Earthquake

TOKYO, Feb 07 (News On Japan) - Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress, along with their daughter, Princess Aiko, were briefed on the Noto Peninsula earthquake at their residence on Tuesday afternoon.

Takashi Moritaka, Director-General of the Japan Meteorological Agency, and Kenji Takahashi, Cabinet Office Director-General for Disaster Management, were invited to the Imperial Palace to provide an explanation about the earthquake's impact.

According to aides, the family, who received approximately two hours of briefing on rescue operations and the status of infrastructure restoration, expressed surprise at the seismic event causing an uplift of the seabed. They also showed interest in the supplies stocked at evacuation centers. The Imperial family extended their gratitude towards those working tirelessly in disaster response, wishing them well and encouraging them to continue their efforts with care for their own health.

Princess Aiko, who has secured a position at the Japanese Red Cross Society, showed a keen interest by inquiring about volunteering activities among other concerns during the briefing.
