Hari ini ditetapkan sebagai "Hari Kucing" di Jepang

Feb 21 (News On Japan) - Tanggal 22 Februari diperingati sebagai "Hari Kucing" di Jepang, dengan para pemiliknya yang dengan sukarela memberikan suguhan spesial untuk hewan peliharaan paling populer kedua di negara ini.

Sebuah survei dari Intage menyebutkan bahwa 23,8% penduduk memiliki hewan peliharaan, dengan anjing sebagai hewan peliharaan paling populer (40,2%), diikuti oleh kucing (35,1%).

Penjualan makanan hewan peliharaan di Jepang mengalami peningkatan sebesar 11,7% dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya, dengan pertumbuhan yang signifikan terutama terlihat pada makanan kucing. Khususnya, penjualan makanan kucing mengalami peningkatan sekitar dua kali lipat dalam lima tahun terakhir. Selain itu, kesadaran akan rencana evakuasi hewan peliharaan dalam situasi bencana juga meningkat, dengan 89% dari responden menyatakan memiliki rencana, meningkat 4 poin dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Peningkatan kesadaran ini dipicu oleh gempa bumi di Semenanjung Noto, yang menyoroti pentingnya evakuasi hewan peliharaan. Semakin banyak orang yang menyatakan niat untuk tinggal bersama hewan peliharaan mereka di dalam mobil atau tenda di luar ruangan dalam situasi darurat tersebut.

Pada tanggal 22 Februari, Jepang merayakan Hari Kucing karena pada tanggal tersebut, yakni 22 Februari, dapat diucapkan sebagai "ni ni ni" dalam bahasa Jepang. Ungkapan ini memiliki kemiripan dengan onomatope untuk suara mengeong kucing dalam bahasa Jepang, yaitu "nyan nyan nyan." Asosiasi Makanan Hewan Peliharaan Jepang secara resmi menetapkan Hari Kucing pada tahun 1987 dengan tujuan mempromosikan kesejahteraan kucing dan mendorong masyarakat untuk mengadopsi serta merawat hewan-hewan tersebut.
