City Worker Arrested for Threatening Nintendo

TOKYO, Apr 05 (News On Japan) - A municipal employee from Hitachi City has been arrested for sending messages threatening to kill Nintendo employees and participants of a gaming event.

Kenshin Kazama, a 27-year-old employee of Hitachi City, is suspected of posting 39 messages on Nintendo's website from August to November last year. Kazama's messages included threats of violence at the "Splatoon Koshien" event, warning, "If you hold something like the Splatoon Koshien, be prepared because I'll kill everyone there too."

Following these postings, Nintendo postponed or canceled events such as the "Splatoon Koshien 2023" starting from December last year.

In response to police inquiries, Kazama has admitted to the allegations, acknowledging, "There is no mistake that I made numerous posts including ones saying 'die'."
