SHIZUOKA, Jul 10 (News On Japan) - Mount Fuji's Shizuoka side opens for the climbing season today, following Yamanashi Prefecture's opening on the first of this month. The climbing season is now in full swing.
"On the first day of the Shizuoka side's opening, many climbers are seen ascending the trail above the sixth station."
Today, three climbing routes on Mount Fuji's Shizuoka side have been opened.
A climber said, "I really want to climb slowly, slowly, and safely."
Reporters noted, "Climbers receive a wristband in exchange for a QR code sent after pre-registration and then aim for the summit."
This year, Mount Fuji has introduced a pre-registration system on the Shizuoka side to manage reservations for mountain huts and other measures to address rapid ascent climbs.
Meanwhile, on the Yamanashi side, there are restrictions on the number of climbers, and a toll fee is being collected.
Due to the lack of enforcement on the Shizuoka side, there are concerns about congestion during peak times.
