TOKYO, Jul 23 (News On Japan) - While the Tokaido Shinkansen has resumed operations from the first train on Tuesday morning, some trains may experience delays or cancellations.
According to JR Central, on July 22nd, maintenance vehicles collided and derailed, causing both up and down services to be suspended between Hamamatsu Station and Nagoya Station for the entire day.
A total of 328 trains were canceled, affecting approximately 250,000 passengers.
In a press conference, JR Central explained that although brake operations were performed on the maintenance vehicles, they were unable to decelerate for some reason. It was also revealed that two workers were injured.
The restoration work at the derailment site was completed shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday night. While the Tokaido Shinkansen will resume operations from the first train on July 23rd, some trains may experience delays or cancellations.
