TOKYO, Jul 28 (News On Japan) - In a recent "2+2" meeting in Tokyo, Japanese and US foreign and defense ministers condemned China for attempting to reshape the international order for its own benefit.
They agreed to enhance the Japan-US alliance, restructure US forces in Japan to improve command and control with the Self-Defense Forces, and expand the production of PAC-3 interceptor missiles in Japan to support US aid to Ukraine. This meeting also marked the first ministerial discussion on the "extended deterrence" provided by US nuclear capabilities to protect Japan. A joint press conference by the ministers is scheduled to follow.
