TOKYO, Aug 09 (News On Japan) - Japan's Kanto and Kyushu regions are facing extreme heat and thunderstorms on Friday, with special caution advised for Miyazaki, where the weather is likely to change suddenly following recent strong seismic activity.
Dangerous temperatures exceeding body heat are anticipated on August 9th, particularly in the Tokai and Kinki regions. Forecasts predict highs of 39°C in Nagoya and 38°C in Gifu and Kyoto.
In Kyushu, heatstroke precautions are necessary, with Kagoshima expected to reach 36°C and Miyazaki 34°C. Additionally, sudden weather changes in the afternoon could bring severe thunderstorms.
The ground around Miyazaki may have weakened due to the recent earthquake, heightening the risk of landslides even with minor rainfall.
Meanwhile, Typhoon No. 5, which formed on August 8th, continues to intensify. It is expected to move northward through early next week, potentially approaching or making landfall in northern Japan.
As the three-day weekend approaches, the public is urged to stay updated on the latest typhoon information, as the storm could bring heavy rain, strong winds, and disrupt transportation.
