Dodgers, Ohtani fight back for first playoff win

Oct 06 (NHK) - In Major League Baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres are facing off in the division series. This is the first postseason for Dodgers star Ohtani Shohei.

The National League West division playoffs opened at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers' home ground, on Saturday.

Yamamoto Yoshinobu was the team's starting pitcher in the first game. Yamamoto struggled with control. He allowed 3 runs in the first inning and gave up 2 more in the third.

In Ohtani's second at bat in the second inning. He blasted a three-run homer to tie the game 3-3. Ohtani got 2 hits in 5 at bats.

The Dodgers held on to win the hard-fought game 7-5 over the Padres.

In the Division Series, the first team to win three games will advance to the National League Championship Series.
