SEOUL, Aug 12 (News On Japan) - Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Koizumi, currently visiting South Korea, attended the Japan-China-South Korea Agriculture Ministers' Meeting with his Chinese and South Korean counterparts.
This was the first meeting between the three countries in seven years. At the meeting, held in Incheon, South Korea, discussions focused on food security and climate change. Minister Koizumi called for cooperation among Japan, China, and South Korea in building cross-border quarantine systems, such as those for avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease.
Minister Koizumi stated, "This opportunity for the agriculture ministers of Japan, China, and South Korea, who face similar climate and agricultural challenges, to gather together and frankly exchange views is extremely meaningful."
