OSAKA, Sep 05 (News On Japan) - A ranking has been released evaluating the attractiveness of cities across Japan, based on 87 indicators across six categories including economy, lifestyle, and transportation.
Osaka City ranked first for the fifth consecutive year. Redevelopment projects around Osaka Station and Namba Station in preparation for the Osaka-Kansai Expo significantly boosted its score in the category of tourism-related activities. Nagoya City took second place, while Fukuoka City, which ranked fifth in 2024, rose to third.
Sapporo City placed ninth overall, but stood out in the environmental category, ranking third nationwide for summer coolness. Its improved standing reflects the climatic advantages of Hokkaido.
The survey, conducted by the Mori Memorial Foundation, a think tank affiliated with Mori Building in Tokyo, excluded Tokyo’s 23 wards and covered 136 cities nationwide.
