OSAKA - Disney On Ice opened its Osaka run on August 8, bringing Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters to the rink for a special production celebrating the show's 40th anniversary in Japan.
"Hi, everyone in Osaka," Mickey Mouse called out as the ice musical got underway.
This year's anniversary production is themed "Let's Party!" and features Mickey and his friends wearing special costumes created to commemorate 40 years of performances in Japan.
The characters skate and perform against colorful video displays and lighting effects designed to create a festive atmosphere throughout the arena.
The show also features familiar Disney songs rearranged with dance-style rhythms, turning the performance into what organizers describe as a party on ice.
The Osaka performances will continue at Osaka-jo Hall through August 16. The production will then open at Kobe World Memorial Hall on September 19.
