United Airlines announced on August 25 that it will launch direct flights between San Francisco and Okinawa from March 27, 2027, as the U.S. carrier seeks to capture growing demand for travel to Japan.
The new San Francisco-Okinawa service will operate three times a week.
United also announced a new daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Osaka, adding to its existing direct Osaka routes, including flights from San Francisco.
The airline is seeking to capitalize on expanding inbound tourism to Japan, supported by the weaker yen.
