HAKODATE - Families were given a rare opportunity to explore a newly built ship about 180 meters long during a public event at Hakodate Dock in Hokkaido on September 6, as the shipbuilder prepares to celebrate its 130th anniversary.
The event attracted large numbers of families and offered visitors the chance to tour the new vessel as well as take part in activities providing a closer look at the shipbuilding factory.
The main attraction was the enormous new ship, which stretches about 180 meters from bow to stern.
Visitors walked through the vessel, took photographs inside and enjoyed views from the ship.
Hakodate Dock was founded in 1896 and marks its 130th anniversary in 2026.
