OSAKA - Kajima Corp. has unveiled the construction site of KAJIMA TREE, a roughly 60-meter wooden tower being built for the International Horticultural Expo that will open in March 2027.
The tower will reuse about 3% of the timber from the Grand Ring, the symbolic wooden structure built for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo.
Kajima has incorporated a wooden damping system into the tower that applies seismic-control technology developed through the construction of high-rise buildings.
The system uses an interlocking timber structure designed to improve the tower's resistance to seismic movement while making extensive use of reused wood.
