Jul 13 (NHK) - Three of the four largest beer brewers in Japan reported gains in 1st-half sales volume as easing coronavirus concerns boosted demand.
Sales of beer, low-malt beer and beer-like beverages rose 15 percent year-on-year at Asahi in terms of value. Suntory and Sapporo both reported a 3 percent increase in volume. Kirin posted a 4 percent drop.
The overall sales increases show that a return to normal economic activity has helped demand.
But the recovery still has a way to go. Volume remains between 10 and 18 percent below pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
