Shizuoka, Jan 28 (News On Japan) - A unique 'Long Bath Contest' for capybaras was held in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture, featuring participants from five locations across Japan that house these creatures.
The event, now in its 12th year, saw participation from Izu Shaboten Zoo and four other facilities from Nagasaki, Saitama, Tochigi, and Ishikawa, all of which nurture capybaras.
The rule of the contest was simple: compete for the longest time spent in the bath. Representing Izu Shaboten Zoo was a female capybara named 'Truffle'.
Truffle relaxed in the bath, clocking a time of 1 hour, 50 minutes, and 49 seconds.
However, the victory was clinched by 'Donut' from Nagasaki Biopark, who soaked for 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 57 seconds, leaving the local favorite Truffle in second place.
