Ten Companies from Japan and U.S. to Cooperate on Next-Gen Semiconductors

TOKYO, Jul 09 (News On Japan) - Ten semiconductor-related companies from Japan and the United States are set to establish a development facility for next-generation semiconductors required for generative AI and autonomous driving in Silicon Valley, USA.

This facility is the result of a call for collaboration by Japan's Resonac, a global leader in semiconductor materials, to various companies from Japan and the U.S.

Joint development in the semiconductor field has been rare, making this an unprecedented initiative.

According to Resonac, major IT companies like Apple and NVIDIA have been requesting domestic technology development in the U.S. for several years.

The facility aims to be operational by next year, with preparations such as the installation of clean rooms and equipment necessary for semiconductor manufacturing starting this year.
