TOKYO, Jul 09 (News On Japan) - A 29-year-old Chinese national has been arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Security Bureau in connection with vandalism at Yasukuni Shrine in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo.
Jiang Zhuojun, an unemployed Chinese national, is suspected of defacing a stone pillar inscribed with the shrine’s name at Yasukuni Shrine in May, using red spray paint to write the word “Toilet.”
According to the Public Security Bureau, Jiang purchased the spray paint used in the act.
Additionally, the Public Security Bureau has issued arrest warrants for Dong Guangming, 36, and Xu Laiyu, 25, both Chinese nationals, in connection with the incident.
Investigations, including security camera footage, suggest that Dong was responsible for the vandalism while Xu recorded the act. However, both individuals have reportedly left Japan and returned to China.
