TOKYO, Jul 17 (News On Japan) - Panasonic Holdings plans to sell its commercial large projector business to Orix for around 100 billion yen ($633 million). Panasonic's commercial large projectors were used during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and are scheduled to be used in the upcoming Paris Olympics starting next week.
These projectors were also used in the projection mapping at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which was recognized by the Guinness World Records.
According to sources, Panasonic has decided to sell this business to Orix, with the sale price expected to be around 100 billion yen.
Panasonic intends to use the proceeds from the sale to invest in growth-anticipated businesses.
