OSAKA, Jul 23 (News On Japan) - NTT West announced that it will end its 'Town Page' phone directory and '104' phone inquiry services in March 2026.
The 'Town Page', first issued by NTT in 1890 as the 'Telephone Subscriber Directory', has been a familiar resource for over 130 years, known for its yellow cover and used to look up phone numbers by name and address.
The '104' service, which provides phone number information for individuals and businesses at a fee, has also been widely used. However, due to increased awareness of personal information privacy and the spread of the internet, the number of users has declined, leading to the decision to terminate both services.
While 'Town Page' and '104' will end in March 2026, the braille phone directory and the web version 'iTown Page' will continue.
