Tourists Revel in Scenic Hachijojima After Typhoon

TOKYO, Aug 19 (News On Japan) - After Typhoon No. 7 passed, clear skies spread over Hachijojima over the weekend, where tourists were seen enjoying hikes through landscapes that seemed to transport them back to the age of dinosaurs.

Hachijojima had been in the storm zone of Typhoon No. 7 for more than 10 hours from August 15th to the 16th, with maximum wind gusts of 30 meters per second recorded at Hachijojima Airport, causing significant impacts.

On August 17th, with the typhoon gone, the skies cleared, and temperatures soared to 31.1°C.

During the typhoon's approach, tourists, confined to their hotels, finally had the chance to enjoy hiking around the island.

One tourist who participated in a tour remarked, "I had originally booked a diving and Hego Forest tour, but both were canceled. I was stuck at the hotel yesterday. Since my stay was extended by a day, I called and was told the tour would be available today. The typhoon yesterday made the area feel refreshed, like a natural sauna. It was lush and beautiful."

The "Hego Forest" walkway is a popular hiking course, offering views of a grove of the fern Hego, a natural monument, and landscapes reminiscent of the dinosaur era.
