Actor Hiroya Shimizu Arrested on Suspicion of Cannabis Possession, Allegedly Used Habitually

TOKYO, Sep 04 (News On Japan) - Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested actor Hiroya Shimizu, 26, on suspicion of possessing dried cannabis. Shimizu is currently appearing in the TBS drama "The 19th Chart."

Footage showed Shimizu being escorted out by investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department.

According to investigators, Shimizu is suspected of possessing dried cannabis at his apartment in Tokyo’s Suginami Ward around July 10th this year.

"I was pouring all my energy into the action scenes every day," Shimizu had said in a previous interview, reflecting his dedication to his acting career. He has been building a reputation through numerous drama appearances.

The police had received a tip-off in January and had been conducting a covert investigation since then.

During a search of Shimizu's residence, police reportedly found what appeared to be fragments of dried cannabis and rolling papers on the table. Shimizu has admitted to the allegations.

In addition, his girlfriend, a woman in her twenties, was also arrested on the same charges. Authorities suspect that Shimizu had been using cannabis habitually and are continuing their investigation.
