Companies Team Up to Create Unique and Cute Schoolbags in Okinawa

NAHA, Sep 05 (News On Japan) - A collaboration between companies inside and outside Okinawa has resulted in the creation of a unique and charming schoolbag unlike any seen before.The bags come in six vivid pastel colors inspired by Blue Seal’s popular flavors such as ube and salted chinsuko, and feature embroidered ice cream motifs and charms.

The schoolbag, now on sale at San-A stores, was jointly developed by Blue Seal Ice Cream, Ryukyu Glass Studio Shizuku, and Matsumoto, a wholesaler specializing in bags. The fasteners can be customized with handmade Ryukyu glass pieces crafted by local workshops. With about 100 variations available, children can create a one-of-a-kind schoolbag. The bags are sold by reservation, with customers selecting their preferred colors and glass fasteners in-store. Delivery is expected within one to two months. Takeda Hisashi, senior managing director at San-A, said, “We hope children will enjoy a school life full of dreams and hope with this schoolbag.”
