TOKYO, Sep 18 (News On Japan) - About 40 percent of medical clinics across Japan were in deficit in fiscal 2023, according to a survey released by the Japan Medical Association, with 13.8 percent considering shutting down in the near future.
The association conducted a questionnaire survey on the financial situation of clinics nationwide, receiving responses from about 11,000 facilities. Of those, 39.2 percent said they had operated in the red.
Rising prices and soaring labor costs were cited as likely reasons, with financial conditions deteriorating at a rapid pace.
