OSAKA, Sep 19 (News On Japan) - Sales of the "Halloween Jumbo Lottery," which offers a top prize of 500 million yen including supplementary prizes, began nationwide on September 19th.
At a special sales booth in Umeda, Osaka, long lines formed as people rushed to buy tickets as soon as sales opened. The combined jackpot of the first prize and its supplementary prizes amounts to 500 million yen. This year, the number of prizes worth 10,000 yen or more has been expanded to around 400,000, roughly 17 times more than last year.
One customer remarked, "I’ve been coming here for about 40 years, but I’ve never won." When asked what time they had lined up, another purchaser replied, "Since 6 a.m. There are five jumbo lotteries a year, and I come for all of them." A different customer said, "My pension is a little small, so I’m counting on this."
The Halloween Jumbo Lottery will be on sale until October 19th, with the drawing scheduled for October 28th.
