TOKYO, Oct 23 (News On Japan) - A child was rushed to the hospital after a safety belt slipped and tightened around their neck while riding the “Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Tale” attraction at Tokyo Disneyland on October 21st.
According to the Chiba Prefectural Fire Department, around 2:30 p.m., a visitor called emergency services reporting that a boy, estimated to be about two years old, was in distress after the safety belt wrapped around his neck during the ride.
Operator Oriental Land said the child had been seated on a guardian’s lap when the safety belt, originally positioned around the waist, shifted upward and constricted the child’s neck. Staff members noticed the situation moments later and immediately activated the emergency stop, rescuing the child and arranging for emergency transport to a hospital.
The extent of the child’s injuries remains unclear. Oriental Land commented that it would share details of the incident internally and strengthen its safety monitoring and inspection systems to prevent similar cases.
