TOKYO - Japan welcomed a record 3.44 million foreign visitors in July, the highest figure ever recorded for the month, even as the number of travelers from China fell sharply from a year earlier.
According to the Japan National Tourism Organization, 3,442,100 foreign travelers visited Japan in July.
Visitor numbers from many countries, including the United States and France, reached record highs for the month of July.
Arrivals from Taiwan also set an all-time record.
By contrast, the number of visitors from China totaled 428,200, down 56.1% from 2025.
