TOKYO - Japan's Digital Agency launched a new smartphone app on August 25 that combines identity verification and administrative procedures, allowing users to access both government and participating private-sector services through a single application.
The new My Number App integrates the functions of the existing Myna Portal app, which has mainly been used for government procedures, and the Digital Authentication App, which provides identity verification for public and private services.
The integration will allow users to complete administrative procedures as well as identity checks required by participating private companies, including when opening online accounts or shopping on the internet.
Existing users of the Myna Portal app can switch automatically to the new service by updating the app, while people who do not already have it can download the My Number App from an app store.
