Fans Gather at Furano Filming Locations After Screenwriter's Death

HOKKAIDO - Fans from across Japan gathered in Furano, Hokkaido, on October 3 to visit filming locations from the television drama "From the Northern Country," marking the first weekend since the death of the series' screenwriter, So Kuramoto.

Visitors traveled to sites associated with the long-running drama, recalling memorable scenes and paying tribute to the work that made Furano one of Japan's best-known television locations.

In the Rokugo district, fans toured several buildings used throughout the series, including the "First House," where Goro Kuroita and his family initially lived in the original television series, and the log cabin that has remained at the site since the drama was first broadcast in 1981.

Other popular stops included "Goro's Stone House," which appeared in the 1989 special "From the Northern Country '89 Homecoming," and the "House Made From Found Materials - Eventually a Town," featured in "From the Northern Country 2002: Last Words."

As they moved through the locations, visitors quietly recalled scenes from the drama and reflected on their own memories of the series and Kuramoto's work.
