Disney Imagination Sets Sail for Japan in 2029

TOKYO - Japan's first Disney cruise ship will be named "Disney Imagination," with Oriental Land and its partners planning to launch the service in spring 2029, offering a new Disney-themed travel experience departing from Tokyo.

The vessel will feature Ariel from Disney's animated film "The Little Mermaid" as a decorative figure on its stern and will have approximately 1,250 guest cabins. The operators aim to attract around 400,000 passengers annually.

The name "Imagination" reflects the company's desire to offer passengers of all generations an opportunity to experience Disney's distinctive world of creativity, imagination and dreams while enjoying a voyage at sea.

The ship will depart from and return to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal, with reservations scheduled to open approximately six months before each sailing.

The new service will mark Disney's first cruise operation based in Japan, expanding the range of Disney entertainment experiences available in the country.
