Aug 06 (NHK) - People in western Japan are bracing for another violent storm. Typhoon Noru is bringing powerful winds and heavy rain. Two people have died, and 12 others have been injured.
The Meteorological Agency says Noru is slowly moving northeast.
Officials say the western region of Kyushu could receive more than 80 millimeters per hour of rain through Sunday night.
The agency warns of floods, mudslides, violent winds, and high waves.
Evacuation advisories are in place for more than 180,000 households in the region.
Kyushu Electric Power says more than 15,000 households in Kagoshima were without electricity on Sunday morning.
Noru has also forced the cancellation of many transportation services in Kyushu.
In Kagoshima a 67-year-old man died after falling in strong winds. Another man who was 84 was found dead at a dock. Police believe he fell when trying to check on his boat.
