Feb 23 (CNA) - Japan is battling pandemic fatigue, with concerns forced isolation is driving more young people into seclusion.
"Hikikomori" is the name for social recluses, those who have withdrawn from society for a prolonged period of time. In the first of a three-part series, CNA visits a rehabilitation centre to find out more. According to government estimates, there are more than one million hikikomori in Japan. With COVID-19, there are concerns that forced isolation during the pandemic could result in a new generation of hikikomori.
