OSAKA, Feb 01 (News On Japan) - The United States, set to participate in next year's Osaka-Kansai Expo, unveiled the design of its pavilion on January 31, aiming to create a space that envisions the future with a stage for enjoying American cultural events.
On January 31, at the U.S. Ambassador's residence in Minato-ku, Tokyo, Ambassador Rahm Emanuel and the pavilion's architect revealed the design for the American pavilion to be constructed at the Osaka-Kansai Expo venue. The pavilion's design is geometric, featuring a cube-shaped building set between two triangular structures, inspired by the Japanese aesthetic of "wabi-sabi." It will include two large screens showcasing American urban and natural landscapes, and a courtyard with a stage for enjoying American music, among other attractions.
The theme of the pavilion is "Imagine What We Can Create Together," aiming to be a place that envisions a future advancing human wisdom. Architect Trey Trahan commented, "I want to collaborate to create a place where people from all over the world can gather and find common ground." The construction cost is estimated at 25 million dollars, approximately 3.7 billion yen, and according to the U.S. Embassy, construction will begin this spring.
