Enoshima Bridge Shuts Down Night Traffic

KANAGAWA, Jul 14, 2024 (News On Japan) - Enoshima Bridge in Kanagawa Prefecture, which connects to the island of Enoshima, is now subject to nighttime traffic restrictions due to complaints about noise from modified vehicles.

The Enoshima Bridge gate was closed at 10 PM Saturday night.

Previously, vehicles could not cross Enoshima Bridge at night without a permit. However, numerous complaints from residents about the loud engine noises of modified cars and motorcycles entering the island at night have been received.

As a result, the police decided to close the bridge gate, and from now on, vehicles and motorcycles will be prohibited from passing between 10 PM and 5 AM daily for the foreseeable future.

This nighttime closure of Enoshima Bridge is the first in approximately 28 years.
