TOKYO, Jul 20 (News On Japan) - McDonald's Japan announced that approximately half of the stores affected by a register malfunction on Friday have resumed operations.
Earlier that morning, social media was flooded with posts about a 'system malfunction' at McDonald's.
Due to the register malfunction, about 30% of McDonald's stores nationwide had to suspend operations. However, by 5 PM on July 19th, half of those stores had reopened.
The remaining stores are expected to resume operations once preparations are complete.
The cause of the malfunction is still under investigation, but it is believed to be unrelated to a previous issue involving computers running Microsoft Windows.
In March, McDonald's faced a significant system failure worldwide due to a settings change, which disrupted online payments and mobile orders.
