Announcer Fired Over Comments on Male Body Odor

TOKYO, Aug 15 (News On Japan) - Freelance announcer Yuri Kawaguchi has stirred controversy after her contract was terminated by her agency following a post about male body odor.

Kawaguchi's remarks, which targeted men's hygiene specifically, sparked accusations of discrimination, leading to widespread controversy. Although Kawaguchi apologized, her agency terminated her contract for "defaming the honor of the opposite sex."

Some argue that Kawaguchi’s comments constitute hate speech against men and warrant her dismissal, saying, "If the roles were reversed, the contract termination would be justified."

Experts warn that such incidents may contribute to increasing gender conflicts in the future.
