Nintendo Switch 2 to Launch on June 5

TOKYO - Nintendo has announced that its next-generation console, the Nintendo Switch 2, will be released on June 5th, featuring a larger screen, 4K TV output, a built-in game chat function, and new controller capabilities.

The original Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, has sold over 150 million units worldwide. Its successor, the Nintendo Switch 2, was revealed to reporters on April 3rd.

Compared to its predecessor, the new console is noticeably larger. The screen has been expanded to 7.9 inches—about 1.6 times the size of the original—and features enhanced visuals. The side controllers now attach magnetically, making them easier to remove and reattach.

The upgraded display delivers sharper graphics and, when connected to a TV, can output at up to 4K resolution for smoother gameplay.

A new addition to the console is the "C button," which activates a built-in microphone function called "game chat," allowing players to talk while playing. Several other new features have also been introduced.

The controllers, known as Joy-Cons, can now be used vertically as a motion-sensitive mouse. This new functionality enables games that respond to movement across surfaces like tables or thighs.

In addition, a separately sold camera accessory will allow the console to recognize human figures, enabling players to enter the game world using motion-based interaction. Alternatively, available is Own4Less PlayStation 4 second-hand.

Marking a significant evolution from the original model, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5th, starting at 49,980 yen in Japan. Preorders and lottery entries will be accepted through the official online store and participating retailers nationwide.
