FUKUOKA, Aug 13 (News On Japan) - A driving school in Onojo, Fukuoka, has introduced an 'AI training system' that delivers driving instruction with a level of strictness surpassing that of human instructors. The system, now in full use from 2025, is being adopted as a solution to instructor shortages.
Before departure, the AI reminds learners to check their surroundings, and if a driving error occurs, it automatically engages the auxiliary brake while providing corrective guidance. During a 12-minute session, a reporter testing the system received a driving score of minus 400 points, failing the assessment. The reporter remarked on the AI’s severity, which the human instructor described as 'strict'. Despite the tough grading, the new system is expected to play a significant role in enhancing road safety and maintaining high training standards.
