Prosecution Seeks 8 Years Prison for Abusive Father

OSAKA, Aug 28 (News On Japan) - The prosecution is seeking an eight-year prison sentence for a father accused of sexually assaulting his daughter, who was unable to resist.

Koji Daimon (54), an unemployed man from Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, is accused of sexually assaulting his daughter, Riho, a second-year high school student at the time, in 2016, knowing that she was unable to resist.

Riho says she was sexually assaulted in their empty home for approximately four years, starting in the summer of her second year of junior high school.

(Riho Fukuyama, last year) "(Daimon) told me, 'Don't tell your mother about this.' At some point, the feeling of 'no' disappeared. I felt like I would break if I had any feelings."

Daimon has admitted to the sexual acts in previous trials, but has partially denied the charges. At the August 27 trial, the prosecution pointed out, "Riho was routinely abused by the defendant. At night, he would touch her while threatening her, saying, 'Your sister might wake up.'"

The prosecution requested an eight-year prison sentence, stating, "The fear and despair Riho experienced when she was unable to resist are indescribable."

Meanwhile, the defense countered, "The violence was within the scope of 'discipline' and not severe. In fact, there were days when Riho refused sexual intercourse, so Riho's story is not credible," and called for a not guilty verdict.

The verdict will be announced on October 21st.
