Gackt Warns Against Blind Reliance on AI

Dec 15 (News On Japan) - Gackt updated his X account on December 13th to issue a pointed warning about the way people interact with artificial intelligence, arguing that excessive dependence on automated systems is eroding basic judgment.

Referring to reports that Google’s AI search feature had incorrectly stated that all tsunami warnings had been lifted while alerts were still in effect, Gackt called the situation “ridiculous,” questioning whether anyone would truly rely on AI to make decisions during a life-threatening emergency. He stressed that AI routinely produces inaccurate information and noted that it is neither an official observation agency nor a source of primary data, unlike the Meteorological Agency or local authorities.

Gackt argued that the real problem lies not in AI’s accuracy but in the mindset of people who interpret AI-generated responses as reassurance, saying the issue reflects a lack of individual crisis awareness rather than flaws in the technology itself.

Extending his remarks beyond disaster scenarios, Gackt said he is increasingly concerned that many people have begun abandoning personal judgment in everyday life because of the convenience of AI tools. He urged users to make their own final decisions, emphasizing that AI is a tool rather than something to entrust with one’s life or daily wellbeing. Warning that relying on AI to think on one’s behalf will only dull human intellect, Gackt cautioned followers to stay alert and avoid “handing everything over” to technology.
