TOKYO, Mar 29 (News On Japan) - A massive fountain installation, billed as one of the largest in the world, began operating in Tokyo’s Odaiba district on March 28th, as the metropolitan government seeks to revitalize the waterfront area and draw millions of visitors.
The attraction, named “Tokyo Aqua Symphony,” features powerful vertical წყ jets shooting straight into the air, reaching heights of up to 150 meters.
Developed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as part of efforts to boost activity in the bay area, the fountain staged its first full-scale performance on March 28th, marking the official debut of the large-scale water show.
Visitors praised the spectacle, with one attendee saying, “It was beautiful. It was the tallest fountain I’ve ever seen,” while a local resident commented that although the project required significant investment, they hoped it would help energize both Tokyo and Odaiba.
The total construction cost amounted to 2.64 billion yen, with annual operating expenses estimated at 200 million yen, and officials project the attraction will draw around 30 million visitors per year and generate an economic impact of approximately 9.8 billion yen.
