TOKYO - Emperor Naruhito visited the Iwabuchi Floodgate on Tokyo's Arakawa River by boat on June 1st, inspecting one of the capital's most important flood control facilities.
The Iwabuchi Floodgate is located near the point where the Arakawa River and Sumida River diverge and plays a crucial role in preventing flooding along the Sumida River. During the visit, the Emperor closely observed the structure and was seen taking photographs as he listened to explanations about its operation and history.
The Emperor was also scheduled to visit the Arakawa Knowledge Museum, a facility dedicated to flood control and river management, as part of his inspection tour of the area.
